An injury will keep a former Leeds United player from playing for Harrogate Town against the Whites.
Due to a catastrophic injury, a former Leeds United player will not be able to play against his old team in the FA Cup.
Josh Falkingham, a midfielder, was born in Rothwell and enrolled in the Academy of his hometown team at the age of seven.
After being released from the Whites, Falkingham stayed with United for more than ten years before departing the team at the age of 19.
Following his signing with St Johnstone, the Leeds native went on to play for Arbroath, Dunfermline Athletic, Darlington, and most recently, Harrogate Town, in May 2017.
Although Falkingham is now Town’s captain, the 34-year-old will not play in Saturday’s FA Cup match because of a major lower leg injury sustained during the team’s 3-0 loss to AFC Wimbledon at home in December.
It is anticipated that the midfield player would miss a full year.
“Falks is not in a good way and he’s going to have to have surgery on his lower leg,” manager Simon Weaver told the Harrogate Advertiser at the time of the incident.
“That occurrence has caused him to sustain three injuries in one. It’s not simple. It’s a lower shin injury; I believe a piece of bone has been chipped off the tibia, leaving an unstable joint there. Surgery is required to provide him the stability he needs.
“It is devastating for both him and our team that he will be out for 12 weeks.”
