Former Leeds United defender Jon Newsome believes Joe Rodon will replace Liam Cooper in the Whites’ starting lineup against QPR on Wednesday night.
Cooper played with Pascal Struijk in the heart of Leeds‘ defence against Southampton on Saturday, as the Whites were defeated 3-1 on the south coast.
They will have a quick opportunity to recover, however, as QPR are scheduled to visit Elland Road on Wednesday evening.
When the R’s call, Daniel Farke should return Rodon to the starting lineup and pull Cooper out.
He believes Struijk performed better at Southampton and should keep his job.
“I’d expect to see a number of changes against QPR,” Newsome stated after the game on BBC Radio Leeds.
“Rodon needs to come back in for Coops.”
“I believe Struijk performed much better. He was the one who took the initiative.
“It still didn’t help us with the unbalanced bit, and he doesn’t feel comfortable coming out on the right side.”
“Oh, he wasn’t feeling well today.” Rodon, I believe, will come in for Cooper.”
QPR are in the relegation zone after a terrible start to the season, having won only two of their nine league games.
The R’s most recent victory at Elland Road occurred in 2013.
