‘I HAVE NEVER BEEN A FAN’: CRAIG BURLEY SLAMS TOTTENHAM MIDFIELDER WHO ‘PASSES IT SIDEWAYS’

Craig Burley has criticised Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg for not appearing to be suited to Ange Postecoglou’s game at Tottenham.

According to the former Chelsea player, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who has yet to start a Premier League game this season, “just passes it sideways.”

It has a new appearance. Tottenham this season, with a rejuvenated midfield that is tearing teams apart, even if they are still trailing 1-0 after 97 minutes – Following Spurs’ victory over Sheffield United, Paul Merson made an admission regarding the club.

James Maddison’s swagger and offensive prowess have boosted a midfield that previously lacked bite and flair. Then, two previously struggling talents, Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr, are reinvigorated and playing as they were supposed to when they were bought.

That leaves players like Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who started the EFL Cup defeat to Fulham, on the bench.

Hojbjerg not good enough for Tottenham

“I’ve never been a big fan of Hojbjerg,” Burley said. “I am simply not. I believe he moves about a lot. He was playing with Skipp when he passed it sideways.”I think the personnel change, especially in midfield, and the addition of Maddison, it’s just a huge difference.”

Does Hojbjerg have a future at Tottenham?

There was speculation in the summer that the Denmark star would go, but despite the speculation, he stayed – it has been stated that the dressing room is a touch ‘awkward’ with him and two other players.

Given that, unless there is an injury, Hojbjerg will be on the bench for the foreseeable future.

Then it wouldn’t be surprising if the transfer window opens again in January and he left, allowing Postecoglou to bring in a more energetic and athletic midfielder to fit the style of game he prefers.
