Erik Lamela has resorted to social media to express his gratitude to Tottenham fans on the ninth anniversary of his rabona goal in the Europa League.
Lamela made 257 appearances for Tottenham in his eight years at the club after joining from AS Roma in 2013, scoring 37 goals and giving 47 assists (Transfermarkt).
The winger had more than his fair share of injury problems during his time at Spurs and was not always a mainstay in the starting eleven when he was fit, but he was a fan favourite thanks to the fight he exhibited on the pitch, and he provided fans with some unforgettable moments throughout his time at the club.
Among them were two stunning rabona goals, the second of which won the Puskas in the North London Derby.
However, the first of the two goals, scored in the Europa League against Asteras Tripolis in 2014, was perhaps the best of the two.
Erik Lamela misses his Tottenham family
On the ninth anniversary of the strike, the Sevilla star wrote on his Instagram story: “9 years! @Spursofficial I miss you. “Best of luck tonight.”
Spurs went on to defeat Fulham 2-0, so perhaps Lamela’s good fortune was justified.
Spurs Online Opinion
I’m still baffled as to how Lamela managed to gain so much power on that Robona attack. We may never see another goal like that again.
