I’d Like To But I Can’t – Leeds Manager Daniel Farke Clears Up On Chelsea Game

Daniel Farke has revealed that while he would like to prepare Leeds United differently for their match against Chelsea, he is unable to do so due to his team’s hectic schedule.

Leeds United are in excellent form heading into Wednesday night’s FA Cup match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, having defeated Championship leaders Leicester at Elland Road.

The Whites have won their last nine league games in a row and are now strong favourites to win automatic promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season.

Farke admitted that Leeds have nothing to lose in a game against Chelsea, but he also maintained that they must be cautious and clever, given the importance of their upcoming league games.

The Leeds manager emphasised that he will not try to change his team’s playing style because he believes it will disrupt their flow, but he did say that he would like to prepare the Whites for Chelsea in a specific way.

The German stated in a press conference, “We go into this with nothing to lose.

“We have to bear in mind that there are three league games coming up, so we have to make some wise selections.

“In a game where you are the underdog, I would like to prepare differently, to mirror Chelsea or change the base configuration, but owing to our timetable, we will not deviate from our typical rhythm.

“It will have an impact on upcoming league games.

“We continue to what we have done in the past. Try to be brave and defend yourself well.

“We know we need the best possible day to give us a chance to be successful, in this mood we will travel.”

Leeds will aim to have the majority of their best players available for Saturday’s league encounter against Huddersfield.
