The Times recently claimed [9 December] that Everton had rejected Tottenham’s offer to decrease the fee to £8 million in exchange for reducing the number of appearances required to attain that threshold.
Dyche acknowledged that the midfielder still has a long way to go before being considered for the first-team squad again due to the protracted period of injury as duration since his last competitive game, and that he would be given a programme to get him back up to speed before his comeback.
This bonus, which is presently set at £10 million but appears likely to be reduced, could be poured straight into Ange Postecoglou‘s team to enhance the depth of a squad that has already been called into question this season.
