Inside the Transfer Frenzy: Why Everyone Wants Burnley’s Luca Koleosho.

Luca Koleosho, an attacker for Burnley, is reportedly being pursued by many Premier League teams, including Nottingham Forest.

The 20-year-old is off to a great start in the Championship season and appears to have no shortage of fans. Among them are apparently the Reds.

Forest have sent representatives to watch Koleosho in recent weeks as they run the rule over his performances. But they are not the only ones keeping tabs on the youngster.

Aston Villa, Brighton and Hove Albion and Crystal Palace are also said to be monitoring the Italy Under-21 international, while Newcastle United have now joined the chase. Their interest comes on the back of Wolverhampton Wanderers failing with a bid for him this summer.

Capable of playing both forward and left flank, Koleosho joined the Clarets from Espanyol in July 2023 for an estimated £2.6 million. He made just 15 appearances last season and managed just one goal as Burnley was demoted from the Premier League. He has two goals from five Championship games this time around.

The addition of Jota Silva and Ramon Sosa to Forest’s roster this term boosted their wide options. Both players have contributed well thus far, and they were crucial in Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion after coming off the bench. With 20 minutes remaining, down 2-1, Jota set up his fellow substitute to secure a vital equalizer for Nuno Espirito Santo’s team. The Reds were not able to get a striker across the finish line in time for the transfer window to end last month, despite their hopes of adding a forward. Nuno has stated that Jota and Sosa may step in up front once they establish themselves in English football, but Taiwo Awoniyi and Chris Wood will be the main line leaders – at least until January.

“We have answers, and we know and trust who we have. Regarding the club’s inability to recruit a striker, Nuno stated, “It’s up to us to develop these versatile players I think can do these positions.”

“We searched for a lot of possibilities throughout the transfer window that may be helpful to us. The most important thing was that we searched for someone who both wanted to be with us and could make us better. These are the two most crucial items.

“Not signing a striker was not a source of disappointment at all. Mainly, we wanted to hold onto the players we wanted to, which is beneficial for the squad’s growth and peace of mind knowing we had answers. to have faith in, rely on, and nurture them.”
