Is Gnonto receiving a reward for spilling agent?

Wilfred Gnonto is close to signing a new deal at Elland Road, despite allegations of a breakdown between him and his agents Vigo Global Sport Services Srl.

Willy Gnonto

Gnonto‘s actions last summer were much to be desired. His plea to move to Goodison Park was continually rebuffed, prompting the 20-year-old to go on strike. Reading between the lines, it appears that he received poor advice and is now being rewarded for ditching his agent.

According to Transfermarkt, the Italian international is Vigo Global Sport’s second most valuable asset, after only Villa striker Nicolo Zaniolo; losing him would be a huge loss.

Gnonto was set to leave Elland Road this month, having been connected with Everton, West Ham, Roma, and, most recently, a loan to buy agreement with Lazio. Signing new contracts will finally put an end to conjecture.

Points shared at the top of the table clash

Last night, Ipswich Town drew level with top-of-the-table Leicester City thanks to Jeremy Sarmiento’s last-gasp goal. The Foxes took the lead at the half-hour mark when former Leeds youngster Leif Davis diverted the ball into his own net, much to the delight of the home crowd.

The form guide (which includes the 4-0 thrashing at ER) places Ipswich 15th, with seven points from their past six games. Southampton leads the list with sixteen points out of a possible eighteen, while Leeds is third with twelve, one point ahead of Leicester City in fourth place.

The Whites are now five points behind Ipswich Town, who went back into second place with 59 points. Saints remain in third place, four points ahead of Leeds, but Spurs may increase Rodon’s cost.

According to multiple media outlets, Tottenham Hotspur may increase the amount for wantaway defender Joe Rodon, amid reports that Leeds would wish to make the trade permanent.

It has been stated that the 26-year-old would love to stop his three-and-a-half-year misery by signing for the Whites on a permanent basis, but rumors from North London indicate that they want between £15 million and £20 million!

He joined the North London club from Swansea City in the summer of 2020 for a fee of £11 million, but has only made fifteen appearances. Furthermore, he has only 16 months remaining on his contract.
