“It was a foul” — Tottenham star feels the goal should not have stood

Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie believes Manchester City’s goal should not have stood.

Spurs were eliminated from the FA Cup earlier today as Nathan Ake poked home from close range. The goal came from a Kevin de Bruyne corner that landed directly in front of the goalkeeper.

Vicario Attempt

Vicario attempted to punch it, but Ruben Dias was blocking his path, so he could only punch it into Micky van de Ven‘s back before Ake scored.

There was a VAR review to see whether Dias fouled the Tottenham goalkeeper, but the goal was finally awarded.

However, the goal remains the game’s talking point, with many arguing that it should not have stood.

Man City goal

Spurs left-back Destiny Udogie has also stated that he believes it was a foul on Vicario.

Speaking after the game, he stated:

“I think from the pitch I saw it was a block on the keeper, so I will watch it back, but I think it was a foul.”

Leaving aside the controversy surrounding that purpose. Tottenham were quite poor. They gave the ball away too easily and were quite wasteful with it.

The absence of Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr, and Heung-min Son proved to be significant.
