Ben Jacobs, a transfer analyst, told Give Me Sport that allegations of Leeds United player Willy Gnonto being dissatisfied at Elland Road are simply false, stating that he has been informed his attitude is spot on.
Gnonto, 20, went from hero to zero in the summer when he refused to play in three games for Leeds against Shrewsbury Town, Birmingham City, and West Bromwich Albion. He returned after apologising.
However, the Italy star suffered an injury against Hull, halting any momentum. Gnonto has also been dropped from Italy‘s senior squad, relegating him to the Under-21s for the international break. He’s having trouble getting started.
Gnonto made just one start in nine Championship games, although missing four due to injury. According to Calcio Mercato, Gnonto is ‘counting down the days’ until the January window.
The speed machine is connecting Lazio and Roma. However, Jacobs claims that any stories or indications that Gnonto is unhappy or attempting to relocate are false. His attitude has been complimented.
“This idea that he’s unhappy again, that he’s throwing his toys out the pram, that he’s pushing to move away because he hasn’t had as much game time is all wrong in my opinion.”
“Since the apology to Daniel Farke, I’ve been told that in Gnonto has been a model professional and relishes the challenge of breaking back into that starting 11,” Jacobs said during a discussion about Gnonto.
The reports about Leeds United midfielder Willy Gnonto are false.
Gnonto is gifted. There is no doubt that he is a Premier League, if not Champions League, player. But he is enduring adversity at this early point of his career, which he brought on himself.
Gnonto may be recognising that he committed a mistake, and this is his punishment. A little karma. If his attitude has been positive and he has kept his head down, it is fantastic. That is something he must do.
