Tottenham defender Joe Rodon is having a great time at Leeds United.
The defender was loaned to the Championship squad in the summer and has been in excellent form since then.
His efforts have gained him the admiration of Leeds supporters, and he has established himself as an essential member of the team’s backline.
Leeds has one of the strongest defensive records in the Championship under his leadership, with a handful of clean sheets and only 18 goals against in 18 games.
Leeds United are interested in signing the ‘phenomenal’ Welshman on a permanent basis, according to Alasdair Gold. He even advises that they work on expediting a trade for the defender in order to sign him in January.
He stated on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast:
“I think for Joe Rodon, if I’m Joe Rodon I wouldn’t even want to go back to Spurs anyway.”
“He’s been doing well at Leeds, and I’m sure they want to keep him.” I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to work up a contract to sign him permanently in January, whether it’s at the end of the season or something, because he’s been amazing for them.”
TBH Opinion:
Rodon has struggled to gain playing time at Tottenham and has spent the majority of his time away on loan.
But he appears to have regained his confidence at Elland Road, and he is currently playing the finest football of his career.
Tottenham has already signed Micky van de Ven and will likely recruit another defender in January.
Rodon is therefore unlikely to get an opportunity at Spurs. A permanent move for him would help him progress his career while also bringing in good money for Spurs.
