The defender has been tremendous since joining Leeds United on loan from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
Joe Rodon has hinted that he would like to continue at Leeds United beyond the current season, which could be his best stretch of form in his career.
While a permanent move for Rodon is not guaranteed, especially if Leeds fail to get promotion, the Welshman’s form and rapport with fans have put his long-term future in the limelight. As is customary, the athlete remains focused on the near term, but admits that this season has been fantastic for his confidence, and ‘long may it continue’.
“Leeds United has had an incredible season, and I want to do everything I can to help them get back to where they belong. Now I’m shifting my concentration away from that and concentrate solely on Thursday. “I’m going to do everything I can for Leeds and Wales.”
Rodon is one of four Welsh internationals stationed in Leeds this season, and he has reunited with Ampadu, Dan James, and fellow loanee Connor Roberts in Cardiff ahead of their Euro 2024 play-off semi-final against Finland. Ampadu and James will each have 50 caps after their performance on Thursday, with Welsh head coach Rob Page recently hailing the former as a future captain.
“It feels like he’s been around forever, but he’s young,” Rodon remarked of his club and national partner. “After spending the past year with him, we’ve bonded and become closer. Playing alongside him is quite comfortable for us.
“Ethan has been amazing not only this season, but since he first arrived at Wales. 50 caps is an incredible achievement, especially at that age. Who knows how much more he can achieve. It’s been a pleasure to play with him this season, and I’m happy for him.
