Two of Daniel Farke’s attackers will miss this weekend’s FA Cup third-round matchup against Harrogate Town.
Joel Piroe is expected to miss this weekend’s FA Cup match against Harrogate Town because of muscle issues, and Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has stated that Patrick Bamford might be sidelined for up to four weeks due to a hamstring issue.
With Joe Gelhardt possibly headed for a loan move to Hull City, Leeds might start Mateo Joseph as the striker in their absence. Bamford’s departure from Elland Road before the end of January has also been conjectured.
However, given the news that the attacker might not return before the end of January, the likelihood of this happening has somewhat decreased.
“Unfortunately, I have to confirm it’s a bit more of a serious injury,” Farke said Tuesday at Thorp Arch. The Blackburn game caused him to sustain a hamstring injury.
He will be absent for around four weeks. Depending on the recovery, it can take a few more days or possibly a little less time. He has a slim possibility of returning to team training by the end of January.
Top scorer Piroe, who is “struggling with a few muscular problems,” will be rested against Harrogate. Farke went on to say: “I can confirm that he won’t play in the game against Harrogate this weekend, so we won’t risk him.”
But there have been other injury boosts, such as this week’s return to training for Junior Firpo and Ilia Gruev. Farke listed Pascal Struijk as available despite the fact that he only had his first training of the week on Thursday.
“I’m worried about two [injury] issues,” Farke continued. “The first is Patrick Bamford’s injury… and the second is Max Wober‘s persistent knee issues. He was unable to train yesterday because he had to take some time off this week.
“He had a session today with less work. Ethan [Ampadu] recovering from his injury and being somewhat stable is crucial.
Karl Darlow will start Saturday’s cup match against Harrogate, Farke continued, ahead of Illan Meslier.
