West Ham United and Fulham could aim to entice Leeds United ace Wilfried Gnonto to London in the coming weeks, according to transfer expert Dean Jones, who writes for Give Me Sport.
It comes after Gnonto informed Daniel Farke that he will be unavailable for Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup match against Shrewsbury Town at home. Leeds won a competitive match for the first time since April in this contest.
Everton are the favourites to recruit Gnonto, and the winger even liked a graphic of himself in an Everton shirt on Instagram this week. It remains to be seen whether Everton will meet our asking price for Gnonto.
However, Jones now claims to have alternative possibilities. West Ham are thought to be exploring a move for Gnonto in the coming weeks, while Fulham are keeping a half-eye on him, with Willian due to transfer to Saudi Arabia.
“He could be a West Ham option.” Everton are interested in him, and I’ve heard Fulham are interested as well, as they look for a creative player if Callum Hudson-Odoi falters,” Jones said.
West Ham and Fulham are also interested in luring Leeds midfielder Gnonto to London.
It would be a fantastic signing for both London clubs. West Ham will compete in the Europa League next season and will require wide coverage for Said Benrahma, Jarrod Bowen, and Pablo Fornals. Bringing in Gnonto helps with that.
Fulham have lost Manor Solomon and may be ready to lose Willian, despite the veteran signing a new contract. Dan James has returned to us. Fulham require wingers, so a deal for Gnonto makes sense.
