Paul Robinson, a former Premier League goalkeeper, criticized Liverpool midfielder Fabinho for his performances this year
The Reds’ season has gotten off to a rough start, and last weekend’s 3-3 draw at home was their fourth Premier League match of the year.
After seven games, Jurgen Klopp’s club is ninth in the standings. Although they defeated Rangers on Tuesday night in the Champions League, they have struggled elsewhere in Europe, suffering a 4-1 loss in Naples.
And after his midfield, particularly Fabinho, gave up three goals to Brighton & Hove Albion, Klopp was visibly displeased.
Robinson responded to a question from Football Insider regarding how the Brazilian was doing this year, saying, “Fabinho was one of Liverpool’s greatest players last year.
“You should always want him healthy and on the squad.
“At Liverpool, nobody is playing well. It is obvious that Klopp is not pleased with how they are performing.
“Fabinho was one who appeared unwell over the weekend. They have issues all throughout the place, so it is unfair to single him out.
“The back four, though, are exposed because Fabinho and the other midfielders are not providing them with the necessary cover. There isn’t the same level of protection as in prior seasons.
TIF Opinions Regarding Fabinho and Liverpool…
Is Fabinho the best midfielder for Liverpool?
Fabinho had made eight starts before to Rangers’ visit, including the first two Champions League matches of this season for the Merseysiders.
In need of a victory, Klopp changed his standard 4-3-3 formation to a 4-2-3-1.
As the attacking line, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Mo Salah, and Darwin Nunez were joined by Thiago and Jordan Henderson.
