Kyle Walker admits Liverpool player is the talk of Man City’s changing room

Kyle Walker quotes Trent Alexander.Arnold has been ‘floating around’ around Manchester City ahead of the game against Liverpool. The Scouser ruffled feathers.

Trent Alexander-Arnold gave everyone, especially football journalists, something to talk about this week. He likened Liverpool‘s triumph to Manchester City‘s, implying that victory for the Reds was more important.

“We’re up against a machine that’s built to win; that’s the simplest way to describe City and their organisation,” Alexander-Arnold told FourFourTwo.
“Looking back on this era, while they may have won more titles and been more successful, our trophies will mean more to us and our fanbase due to the financial realities at both teams.

“How both clubs have built their teams and the manner in which we’ve done it, probably means more to our fans.”

Erling Haaland and Ruben Dias responded to such comments in a well publicized manner this week, after being approached by media for their thoughts. Their comments sparked speculation that Alexander-Arnold may have frightened City with his perspective – albeit, of course, the players were simply answering questions.

However, Kyle Walker confirmed on Rio Ferdinand’s Five podcast that the players are discussing those statements regardless.

“I’m not even getting involved in that,” Walker replied when asked for his personal impression. “It’s been floating around the changing room today.”
Trent Alexander-Arnold has everyone talking.

City’s success is undeniable; they are a squad that always gives their all, making it difficult for other teams to compete. But it’s difficult to disagree with Alexander-Arnold’s statement.

Liverpool, after all, is not a squad established by signing players for record fees every summer. Of course, they have had a few huge transfers, but nothing on the scale of City.

So when you’re competing against a juggernaut, victory matters more than it does when you’re the juggernaut. Is this truly debatable?
