Doctor shares surgery claim as Leeds United defender Junior Firpo suffers hamstring injury.
Despite a hamstring injury, Leeds United defender Junior Firpo will not require surgery, according to Dr. Rajpal Brar.
Brar, a Physical Therapist and Sports Scientist, told MOT Leeds News exclusively: “He will be out for a few weeks but it’s never unexpected to see a player pick up another injury – especially muscular – after returning from an extended absence as the body still needs time to adapt to in-game fitness demands.”
“This sounds like a Grade 2 (out of 4) hamstring tear and surgery wouldn’t be required unless something drastic happens during rehab.”
Given his injury problems since moving to Elland Road, it remains to be seen what the Leeds administration does with Firpo. Even when he is fit, his performances have let the team down, and January could be an ideal time for the club to cash in on his services. There are connections in Spain, and he may be tempted to return to La Liga, where he prospered while playing for Real Betis.
