Leeds considering a surprise deal to sign “quality” striker with 204 goals

This summer, the Whites plan to upgrade their forward line.

Leeds United are considering a deal for a Premier League-proven striker ahead of the summer transfer window.

Leeds targets attackers.
With only three game weeks left in the 2023/24 Championship season, Leeds United remains firmly in contention for automatic promotion. The Yorkshire club is only two points behind Ipswich Town and one point behind Leicester City in what looks to be a tight finish to the season.

Kalvin Phillips

If they do manage to achieve promotion, the Peacocks will need to ensure that their squad is once again capable of competing at the highest level. As a result, the Whites are set to have a busy summer, with a number of players already rumoured to be joining Elland Road. Leeds are reportedly looking for a “bargain” summer move for Southampton striker Che Adams, and the return of Kalvin Phillips to Elland Road has also been mentioned.

Meanwhile, rumours in February indicated Leeds are one of several clubs interested in signing Kilmarnock star Bobby Wales at the end of the season. A new name with proven Premier League experience has been linked with a transfer to Yorkshire ahead of the summer window.

Michy Batshuayi

Leeds consider surprise bid for 204-goal striker.
According to the Star [via Sport Witness], Leeds are a’surprise suitor’ for striker Michy Batshuayi. The Belgian signed current team Fenerbache from Chelsea in 2022 for €3.5 million and has scored 41 goals in 68 appearances for the Turkish club.

However, the 30-year-old’s current contract expires this summer, and while there is allegedly an option to extend it by a year, the Star reports that Batshuayi is expected to leave Fenerbache this summer, and Leeds are keenly monitoring his status.

Should Leeds win promotion this season, signing someone with Batshuayi’s experience would be a wise decision. The forward has scored an astounding 204 goals for club and country in his career, and while his stint at Chelsea was not as successful as some had hoped, he garnered great acclaim, particularly from former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard.

“It was interesting to see not just the player – I was aware of Michy’s talent, and it’s always nice to see it up close – but also his demeanour. Since the beginning of the season, his training, demeanour, positivity, and, most importantly, quality when he comes on have all been excellent.

“When Tammy scores on a regular basis and establishes himself in the team, it is not easy. It’s the same with Oli [Giroud]. Michy has demonstrated all appropriate responses to this situation. He’s been extremely excellent for us so far, and maintaining a positive attitude when you’re not playing frequently is crucial not only for him, because it can be difficult at times, but also for the group. He deserves special recognition for that. “He’s positive, hardworking, and enjoys scoring goals.

A transfer to Elland Road could be worth watching, but Leeds will most likely need to gain promotion first.
