Leeds’ expected permanent exodus is in doubt as ace flops due to medical problem, according to reports

Leeds United transfer news: Marc Roca’s departure now in doubt as form declines following pneumonitis

Marc Roca‘s expected move from Leeds United to Real Betis is now in doubt due to his poor La Liga play, according to Mucho Deporte.

Marc Roca
The Spanish newspaper stated on their website on March 4 that the on-loan midfielder’s future at the club is now in doubt due to poor form following a bout of pneumonitis, a lung inflammation.

With the Whites currently on track for at least a Championship play-off spot, the prospect of an extension to his loan is looking increasingly remote.

A permanent move was always going to be difficult financially, but now that he is failing on the pitch, it is even more difficult.

On-loan midfielder Roca may not be able to leave Leeds United. He has been a crucial player for Betis this season and has expressed a desire to stay beyond the season’s end.

However, he has missed three of their last six La Liga games and was replaced at halftime in the weekend’s defeat at Atletico Madrid, where Mucho Deporte claims he was “not good”.

That is a dramatic drop from being regarded as one of the “most sought-after players in the country” by El Desmarque as recently as 15 January, when it was claimed that discussions with his agents had already begun about continuing with the Seville-based club.

If Leeds United are promoted to the Premier League, it would be a difficult transaction for Betis to complete, given his loan has no permanent option in such circumstance.

They are thought to be unable to pay anything close to €20 million [£17.1 million], so if that was a stumbling block when he was doing well, it is not surprising that the Spaniards are turned off by the prospect now that he is playing poorly.

The Whites would surely be content just to recoup the £10 million they paid Bayern Munich two summers ago [Sky Sports], as he never looked fully suited to the Premier League, having been deemed unlikely to make it in Germany, and appeared at ease back in Spanish football, but that appears to be impossible.
