Leeds United fined on cards after following Manchester City’s example – Finance Expert
Dan Plumley has insisted that Leeds United will face fines following the scuffle that followed the 1-1 draw with Coventry City at Elland Road.
Crysencio Summerville was caught in the middle of the drama after refusing to shake hands with Bobby Thomas, an act that other players later joined in on before being dragged apart.
The finance expert admitted that clubs can establish a track record, citing Manchester City‘s £120,000 fine for failing to control their players against Tottenham.
“I think if it continues, that’s where the league authorities will go,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.
“Over the last few days, we’ve seen Manchester City fined £120,000 for failing to control their players, so we’re starting to see instances and possibly precedents set.”
“I’m not saying every fine will be £120,000, but we’ve seen that recently, and repeat occurrences tend to incur fines at some point.”
“Maybe if it’s a one-off you get the benefit of the doubt, but if it is something that carries on and individual clubs build up a track record, you’re probably likely to see fines.”
