One analyst has advised Norwich City to sign one of its veterans ahead of Daniel Farke’s return to the club with his Leeds United side.
The all-whites have undergone substantial change in recent months, both on and off the pitch, but one constant has remained: Luke Ayling.
The 32-year-old veteran continues to give his all to the Elland Road club, and former Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robsinson believes his devotion should be rewarded.
“It would be fantastic to see Ayling rewarded with a new contract as a reward for his service to the club,” he told MOT Leeds News.
“The way he’s played in recent years, his leadership qualities that he still possesses in the locker room.” That would be beneficial in the long run. It would be amazing if the club rewarded him with a new deal.”
Robinson understands what it’s like to play for a high-profile club like Leeds, and the fact that Ayling has done so for the past eight years speaks volumes about the player.
During that period, he will have witnessed the highs of promotion to the Premier League, in which he played a key role, as well as the lows of last season’s relegation.
Despite this, he is as dedicated to the Leeds cause as ever, and such dedication is uncommon in today’s game.
It’s no surprise, then, that Robinson feels Ayling should be kept around. Even if he doesn’t play as many games for the team in the future, having his voice heard in the locker room will be invaluable.
