Leeds inquire about Hammers contract rebels.
Leeds United are reportedly in negotiations with West Ham United about signing versatile left winger Ben Johnson. The 23-year-old has slid down the pecking order this season, with only 350 minutes of game experience under his belt, and is looking for a move away from the London Stadium.
The Whites had their sights set on Nico Williams, but Nottingham Forest were unwilling to let him leave. Johnson may not be Welsh, but he has 92 first-team appearances for the Hammers and ten England U21 caps.
Johnson can play on either wing, but prefers the left. His contract expires this summer, but any arrangement to make the move permanent will be based on his compensation. He is now paid £20,000 a week, but wants three times that if West Ham want to keep him.
Prior to the January transfer window, he was connected with a move to St Mary‘s in exchange for Southampton’s highly regarded full-back Kyle Walker-Peters and cash.
