Leeds meets the asking price with a £3 million deal to secure Farke’s 21-year-old player.

After paying the asking price for a 21-year-old defensive midfielder, Leeds United may be getting close to making their first acquisition of the January transfer window.

The Yorkshire team leads the Championship standings and is among the best-performing teams in the division, so it may not come as a huge surprise that the Whites have had a quiet transfer window thus far. Even though Daniel Farke has expressed his disapproval of current transfer window, the club will still likely make some kind of move because they are still being linked to new players.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Leeds scouts witnessed Bali Mumba in action during Saturday’s FA Cup match between Plymouth and Brentford. Farke is familiar with the defender because he made his Premier League debut with Norwich City a few years ago, and the German may now be eager to work with the defense again. This month, the Whites may also see some departures, as the future of striker Patrick Bamford is still very much in doubt.

John Eustace, the manager of Blackburn Rovers, has now acknowledged that Bamford is on his team’s list of transfer objectives for this month: “Patrick is an excellent athlete. When he first began out, I played with him at Derby.

He plays for a major Leeds club and is a reliable performer at this level. I’ll just say they’re good players, but I’ll get a lot of names hurled at me. The club would have to be consulted. We’ve looked at a huge list of players, including him, but we’ll have to see.”

Leeds gets a 21-year-old midfielder for £3 million.
According to Portuguese journalist Sebastiao Sousa Pinto, Leeds has offered Djé D’avilla €4 million, the amount Leiria requested for the player, thus the Championship team now has a new addition on their radar.

A ‘number six’ by trade, the 21-year-old has been playing for Liga Portugal 2 team Leiria since July 2022. Before relocating to Portugal in 2021, D’avilla began his career in Ivory Coast and then joined Al Hilal United of Saudi Arabia.

After a loan stint away from the team, the midfielder just recently made his debut for Leiria, but it appears that in his more than thirty games for the squad, he has done enough to get Leeds‘ attention. According to Sousa Pinto, the Portuguese team is satisfied with the Whites’ offer, which is approximately £3 million.

However, because he would need to obtain a work permit, a transfer still appears to be very challenging to accomplish. A number of teams have apparently expressed interest in signing the young midfield talent, so Leeds is not the only team interested in doing so.
