According to Yenicag, RB Leipzig are waiting for striker Yussuf Poulsen to meet with Leeds United this summer to negotiate a potential transfer to Elland Road.
According to the Turkish publication, the Danish forward is interested in moving to England, and the only current offer he has had is from the Whites.
Poulsen‘s involvement in the Bundesliga has dwindled in recent seasons, with the return of Timo Werner to Leipzig last year restricting him to only three starts in the league, when he found the net twice. However, Leeds still wishes to bring him to England.
The Mail previously reported that the Whites were interested to sign the Danish international and that, while they expect competition, the player may be content to stay in Germany for the remaining year of his contract.
Another striker who isn’t particularly productive
Poulsen has only scored 11 goals in all competitions in his last two seasons, and while he has had to deal with selection and injury issues, that isn’t exactly the sort of record in front of goal that will thrill Leeds United fans.
Rodrigo, their main source of goals last season, has already left Elland Road, leaving them with only a few recognised strikers, notably Patrick Bamford. Joe Gelhardt and Georginio Rutter.
Bamford was prolific in the Championship and in his first Premier League season, but he struggled for fitness and form last season, and despite Poulsen being much more established on the international and European football scenes, there are clear parallels between their recent form.
Rutter struggled to find the net consistently last season, scoring twice for Hoffenheim in the first part of the season but failing to score at all after joining the Elland Road ranks in January.
Leeds require guaranteed goals, and while the Championship is clearly a step down from the top half of the Bundesliga, they may be better off spending their money elsewhere to ensure victory.
