Leeds United are still interested in signing a ‘exceptional’ Premier League player as a rival deal falls through.

Leeds United are still interested in signing Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow this summer to address their goalkeeper shortage.

More information on the 32-year-old’s future has been revealed by the Northern Echo.

Leeds manager Daniel Farke will be settling in swiftly ahead of the start of the Championship season.
He’s already on the verge of making his first signing, with Welsh international Ethan Ampad

There have already been numerous departures from the squad, with many players already on loan for the upcoming season.

Joel Robles, who finished the season as the team’s first-choice custodian, is one of the players who has left on a permanent basis.

Illan Meslier‘s confidence has dwindled as the campaign has progressed, and his future is now in doubt.
Leeds are now looking to recruit Karl Darlow to help them return to the Premier League.

However, there is a catch: Newcastle are unwilling to lower their asking price for the ‘excellent’ shot-stopper.

Darlow is a target for Leeds this summer.
According to the Northern Echo, Darlow’s transfers to Hull City and Middlesbrough have already fallen through this summer.

Newcastle are determined to collect a’significant transfer sum’ for the 32-year-old throughout this window.

They go on to add that Leeds and Bournemouth are still interested, and that he has two years left on his present contract.

Newcastle will be led by Nick Pope next season, while Martin Dubravka and Loris Karius remain at the club.

Darlow will have to move on if he wants to play football next year.

However, the issue appears to be with the club rather than the player’s unwillingness to transfer.

Leeds will have parachute payments available, which means they could theoretically afford Darlow as their number one next season.
Darlow joined Hull for the second half of last season and impressed, making over 150 Championship games.

He’s an excellent choice at this level, and his experience might help restore confidence in a fragile Leeds defence.
