Leeds United could examine three Ethan Ampadu alternatives following a recent Premier League link.

Leeds United are no strangers to Premier League interest in their great players, and Ethan Ampadu is reported to be one of them.

Leeds United only signed Ampadu from Chelsea in the summer, but Football Insider reported last week that the Welshman is gaining the attention of Premier League clubs with Willy Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville.

Ao Tanaka

Given that he only signed in the summer, you’d think it would take something extraordinary for the Whites to be persuaded to let Ampadu go, especially given their own ambitions. However, given the rumours, it may be prudent to put backup plans in place for future replacements.

With that said, here are three possibilities for Leeds United to consider…

Andrey Santos – Chelsea

Santos, a Brazilian midfielder who joined Chelsea in the summer, was loaned to Nottingham Forest in order to keep him in the Premier League. However, with little action at the City Ground, a winter change of scenery and possibly a relegation to the Championship could be ideal.

This would have to be a loan signing rather than a permanent replacement, but Santos is certainly one to consider.

Andrey Santos

Ao Tanaka – Fortuna Dusseldorf

Tanaka was linked with Leeds United in the summer, and if the club’s need for another midfielder arises this winter, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him return to Elland Road.

The 22-cap Japan international can play as a central or defensive midfielder and brings Bundesliga experience.

Federico Redondo

Federico Redondo – Argentinos Juniors

Perhaps an ambitious last suggestion, but this would be a huge statement addition. Leeds United have proved in the past that they can sign great talent like Gnonto before top teams come calling, and a move for Redondo may overtake that.

The 20-year-old Argentine appears to be headed for a career at the top, but with his contract expiring in December 2024, next year could bring a low-cost move. There would almost certainly be stiff competition for his signature, but Redondo is definitely worth keeping an eye on.
