Leeds United, Ipswich Town, and Leicester City are still vying for a top-two finish in the Championship.
Leeds United’s promotion prospects were strengthened this evening after Ipswich Town were held to a goalless draw at home against Watford.
This was only the second occasion this season that Kieran McKenna‘s team failed to score at Portman Road, after being shut out by Queens Park Rangers in December.
Leeds are now only one point behind Ipswich and Leicester City with four games remaining, despite the latter having a game in hand on second and third place.
Daniel Farke‘s side might have led the Championship table with 90 points if they had defeated Sunderland on Tuesday, but the visitors confined Leeds to few clear-cut chances in the final third to win a share of the points.
Ipswich made second-half substitutions against Watford on Wednesday night in pursuit of a winning goal, but the dramatic finish from their recent 3-2 win over Southampton could not be duplicated.
This weekend, Middlesbrough will travel to East Anglia for a 7.45pm kick-off. Leeds will host Blackburn Rovers, who are still fighting to avoid relegation after losing severely at Bristol City on Wednesday, while Leicester will go to Plymouth Argyle, another relegation-threatened club.
