Leeds United goes for the 30-year-old defender- makes sense because he is available on a free transfer

Leeds United has struggled at left-back for a lot of years. Leeds has struggled to find a long-term replacement for the several left-sided defenders who have come and gone, and that problem still exists.

Sam Byram returned to Leeds during the summer after departing for West Ham in January of 2016. However, Byram has been limited both this season and in the second half of the campaign due to injury.

First choice Junior Firpo is expected to miss Friday’s match against Watford while on tour with the Dominican Republic. However, Firpo is not the player we were expecting from Barcelona.

Since Charlie Taylor left the team in 2017, the left-back position has, in fact, not been occupied. Despite their best efforts, Barry Douglas, Gjanni Alioski, Laurens De Bock, and Firpo have not been able to resolve the problem.

Charlie Taylor discusses the future following Leeds’s January links.
Taylor, 30, is rumoured to be returning to Leeds. We were eager to have him back to Leeds even in January, following our connections with him during the summer. Graeme Bailey stated that we were prepared to sign him to LeedsUnited.News.

Before to Turf Moor, the Burnley player made his senior team debut and played 104 times for Leeds. Before being promoted to the Premier League the previous season, he made 154 appearances for Burnley.

But now, the Leeds academy graduate is ready to see his contract at Vincent Kompany’s side expire. Taylor spoke to the Burnley Express about his future, refusing to rule out leaving on a free transfer.

“I’m not really thinking about anything beyond the summer; I’m just happy to be playing every week.” I’m loving my football and trying to give my best for this club to get us up the table and out of difficulty.”

If Charlie Taylor is available, he is an obvious choice for Leeds.

If Leeds can sign Taylor for free, it’s a no-brainer. Since his departure seven years ago, Leeds has been unable to replace him.

Yes, he is thirty and not getting any younger. However, Leeds have a youthful roster, and bringing in a player with over 150 Premier League games under his belt is a must if the club is to get promoted.

Even if we don’t get promoted at the end of the season, which would be a shame considering our current situation, he would be a fantastic addition for the Championship. We merely need to complete a deal for him.

Taylor is currently focused on bringing Burnley out of difficulty, but just as we appear to be on the verge of promotion, Burnley appears to be relegated. It is in his best interests, therefore, to potentially rejoin.
