According to James Olley, Tottenham has accepted a loan bid from Leeds United for right-back Djed Spence.
The Senior Football Writer at ESPN stated on his personal Twitter page (29 August) that the 23-year-old is due to depart London and travel north to complete his physical before joining the club on a season-long loan.
The full-back will incur an initial loan fee of £500,000, with the amount potentially rising to £1.5million if certain add-ons are met.
There is no provision in the agreement to make the transfer permanent.
savvy business
This might be one of Leeds‘ best business deals of the summer. The money is low, but the payoff may be extremely great, as Spence is more than capable of guiding the West Yorkshire club back to the Premier League, having done so with Nottingham Forest the previous season.
He was one of the division’s star performances that season, and while things haven’t gone well for him at Tottenham, with the player’s game time limited under Antonio Conte, he has more than enough potential to propel Daniel Farke‘s side forward this season.
Furthermore, even if Spence is unable to find the form that made him so lethal for Forest, the comparatively modest cost of transporting him to Elland Road means that not much is lost.
This season, he will undoubtedly be one to watch.
