Latest Birmingham City news as Wayne Rooney’s side attempts to become the first team this season to win at Elland Road when they face Leeds on New Year’s Day.
Leeds United have been dealt an injury blow ahead of their Championship encounter against Birmingham City, with defender Pascal Strujk ruled out.
According to LeedsLive, he will miss Friday night’s game against West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns due to an adductor injury. The Baggies won that game 1-0, putting Leeds nine points behind second-placed Ipswich and 17 points behind league leaders Leicester City.
While the injury is unlikely to keep the defender out for long, it does leave him a doubt for the Blues’ journey to Elland Road on New Year’s Day (3pm kick-off). Wayne Rooney’s team enters the game with a point after a 0-0 draw with Bristol City on Friday night.
Strujk is not the only player who could miss Leeds’ match against Birmingham. Goalkeeper Illan Meslier will be absent as he serves the second of a three-game suspension for a red card he received on Boxing Day against Preston North End. Karl Darlow is set to take his post once more.
Full-backs Luke Ayling and Jamie Shackleton are also huge doubts, as both are still nursing injuries. Stuart Dallas, another defender, is also out as he works his way back from a long-term injury.
Meanwhile, the return of full-back Lee Buchanan could help the Blues. The 22-year-old has missed the last two games while recovering from concussions.
Cody Drameh, on loan from Leeds, will not be able to play against his parent club. It has also been revealed that Marc Roberts will be out for another period of time.
