Leeds United may have survived after missing out on a Premier League player for £12 million.

Leeds United will be adding Premier League loans to their lineup in the final weeks of the transfer window.

Now that the preseason is almost over and the new campaign is set to commence, clubs are starting to make decisions about which players to move or retain. Leeds wants to sign at least three players before the transfer window shuts, and loaning players to the team makes sense because P&S is a continual concern for Championship teams.

During this time last year, Leeds was able to secure the loans of Joe Rodon, Djed Spence, and Jaidon Anthony; all three players arrived in late August. With only three weeks left in the window, Leeds needs to be serious about incomings soon.

What prevented Leeds from being struck by Jesurun Rak-Sakyi.

Leeds has only signed Joe Rothwell on a temporary basis from Bournemouth, leaving four loan spaces available for usage. Given his connections to Jesurun Rak-Sakyi of Crystal Palace and Hugo Bueno of Wolverhampton Wanderers, it seems unlikely that this loan agreement will be the final one made this summer.

Both appear tough to pull off given Leeds’ inability to guarantee consistent playing time from the beginning. Rak-Sakyi may actually be out of the running because Sheffield United is expected to win.

But, Crystal Palace has agreed to another clause that allows Chris Wilder’s squad to summon him back in January. Of course, there’s no guarantee Palace will utilize it, but his promotion chances could be hampered by the loss of someone as important as Rak-Sakyi.

Elite players are always much harder to come by in January, therefore Sheffield United would struggle to find a good replacement who could make an immediate impact if Palace decided to recall Rak-Sakyi. Instead, it appears Leeds is focusing the most of their energy on a long-term contract for Norwich City’s Jonathan Rowe.

Talks between the two sides are growing closer, according to Sky Sports, even if no formal offer has been made as of yet. Talks had started at around £7 million, but Leeds has told Norwich they are willing to pay more, at a far more reasonable amount given their value.

Norwich values Rowe at around £15–£20 million, albeit considering the terms of his contract, the former is most likely more accurate. However, Leeds must move quickly since Rowe is still being pursued by Premier League and foreign teams.
