Sam Byram is expected to be “fully available” for Leeds United’s trip to West Brom on Friday night, after making a surprise return to the squad against Preston.
The Whites‘ spirits were dampened somewhat after beating Ipswich, as they lost their next game away to Preston, effectively undoing the work they put in before Christmas.
Byram is fully fit, according to early Leeds team news.
Despite Djed Spence‘s recent growth into his makeshift role, Sam Byram has been sorely missed at left-back in recent weeks.
The free transfer has been a constant in Leeds‘ better performances this season, and his return to the side against the Baggies looks more likely this Friday.
That’s according to Daniel Farke, who revealed before West Brom that he is “fully available” via the YEP:
“We had Sam Byram back with us today; he had just trained with us the day before, and I only had him on the team sheet for 10 or 15 minutes.”
“He will have two more days of training before he is fully prepared for this game.” That’s great. All of the others will be more difficult because Luke is currently suffering from knee problems, and I doubt he will make it. Also, Shackleton is too young; he hasn’t been in training, so we’ll see how he grows.”
Leeds United’s injury list is complete.
Leeds have few injuries to worry about at the moment, with Farke’s squad almost fully fit for the Baggies trip.
With Jamie Shackleton‘s impending return and Luke Ayling’s minor injury, the only long-term issue is Stuart Dallas, who is suspended:
It’s a huge boost for Byram to be back.
Byram‘s return to the squad and full fitness is a huge boost for us, as we’ve been lacking balance between our two wings recently.
Having him on the left going into January is far superior to suffocating Djed Spence by playing him on the left.
Archie Gray has done an excellent job at right-back for us, but that experiment must come to an end now that Spence is ready to play.
