Willy Gnonto’s future at Leeds is always a source of speculation, and with the January transfer window open, clubs are expected to be connected – and two fresh Premier League names might now make an offer.
Gnonto, 20, has lost his position in the Leeds team this season. It comes 18 months after Jesse Marsch joined the club from Swiss side Zurich. He made a quick impression, scoring eight goals and assisting on others.
But this season, he has only one goal and an assist for Leeds in 22 appearances, the most of which have come from the bench. That’s because Cree Summerville and Dan James are currently the top choices.
In December, reports stated that we had given Gnonto the ‘green light’ to leave. Roma, Lazio, and Fiorentina are all interested, with Everton reportedly in talks to buy the Italian ace for several weeks.
A charge of £13m is required. Dean Jones on Sports Lens reports that Fulham and West Ham are both interested in Gnonto. Jones believes West Ham will make an inquiry in the ‘coming days’.
Fulham and West Ham want to sign Leeds winger Willy Gnonto.
It’s not surprising that Gnonto is interested in him, but Fulham and West Ham are a little surprising. Everton isn’t, despite their great association with the Italian speed machine.
But Fulham and West Ham’s interest seems surprising. A move to London would undoubtedly appeal to Gnonto, especially given that neither club is fighting to avoid relegation. His contract ends in 2027.
Reports say £13 million, but that is clearly too little, especially if he hasn’t played much. If Leeds can raise £20 million or more, we’ll have to let him leave. Especially to a team that isn’t in England.
