Leeds United are leading a group of Championship clubs calling for punishment against Leicester City, according to Football Insider.
Leicester City has been penalised with violating Profit and Sustainability Rules after surpassing their permissible losses during their final season in the Premier League.
The Foxes released their 2022-23 accounts on Tuesday (2 April), revealing a total deficit of nearly £90 million.
It brings their overall losses over the last three years to £215 million, after they suffered significant losses in 2020-21 and 2021-22.
Clubs in the Championship are now calling for Leicester to face punishment, with top officials claiming that their promotion charge is based on an unfair advantage.
Leeds United joins the group lobbying for Leicester sanctions.
Leeds are said to be spearheading the protests, with Elland Road board members upset at Leicester‘s huge losses.
According to Football Insider, Leicester City‘s points penalty is “only a matter of time” now that their accounts have disclosed the extent of their financial crisis.
Enzo Maresca‘s side is presently third in the Championship, but they have a game in hand over promotion contenders Leeds and Ipswich Town.
If Leicester had remained in the Premier League, any punishment from their PSR accusation would have been imposed this season.
Instead, Leicester are expected to start next season with minus points, assuming a points deduction for their PSR violation.
