All the latest Leeds United news and transfer rumours as the club returns to Championship competition.
Leeds United earned an additional game over the weekend after they failed to defeat Plymouth Argyle in the fourth round of the FA Cup. The Whites will now have to deal with a replay away from home, but more Championship action comes first.
Daniel Farke‘s side face Bristol City on Friday night, trying to overtake Ipswich Town, who are now only two points ahead with a game in hand. Meanwhile, we’ve compiled a comprehensive list of Elland Road‘s recent news.
Hjelde is on his way.
Leeds are thought to have agreed on a deal to transfer marginal player Leo Hjelde. Mike McGrath reports that Sunderland have reached an agreement with the Whites to sign the defender, who is in need of regular action.
Hjelde has found himself playing for the under-21s this season, having not appeared since the season’s opening day, and he now appears to be looking for a fresh start elsewhere. The 20-year-old has been at Leeds since 2021, having come from Celtic.
Godfrey’s latest
Leeds are claimed to have made an approach for Everton’s Ben Godfrey, with a loan deal supposedly on the table. Godfrey has been widely connected with a move to Elland Road in the past week, after his projected move to Atalanta fell through.
According to the Sun, Leeds has filed a loan request, and Sean Dyche has already agreed to let the defender leave. It’s unknown whether a buyout clause would be included in the deal, with Everton presumably willing to sell after nearly agreeing a £10 million deal with Atalanta. Godfrey is a centre-back by trade, but he can play across the back line, which might be useful considering the Whites‘ lack of depth at full-back.
