Leeds United Supporters’ Trust has clarified the Huddersfield Town ticket problem following the club’s own announcement on Monday (16 October).
The Whites stated on their official website that adult tickets for the match against West Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town at Elland Road on 28 October have been reduced to £20.
This comes after Town chairman Kevin Nagle called out Leeds last week when tickets for the same category were initially priced at £47.
1/2 We have clarity from @LUFC that reciprocal pricing was offered for the Town game, as per what the club committed to this season.
Our understanding is @htafc were asking Leeds to lower our prices without agreeing anything in return which was understandably refused.
However, as the Supporters’ Trust stated on Twitter (16 October), the decision was based on Huddersfield agreeing to match the £20 offer for the rematch at the John Smith’s Stadium in March.
“We have clarity from @LUFC that reciprocal pricing was offered for the Town game, as per what the club committed to this season,” the message from the club stated.

The correct decision
Nagle, the Huddersfield manager, was eager to condemn Leeds over the ticket cost, but he should have looked closer to home before sending his tweet.
As with other home games this season, United has demonstrated a willingness to offer tickets at a reasonable price if the offer is reciprocated.

Leeds are willing to do the same now that Huddersfield has agreed to sell away tickets for £20 later in the season.
This is a problem that might have been easily averted if the Terriers had made it obvious that they were willing to follow suit rather than remaining silent.
As it stands, this can only be regarded as a positive development for fans, who can now get a ticket at a reasonable price.
