In fresh quotes that surfaced ahead of the Championship match against Norwich City on January 24, Joe Rodon hinted that he might be in favor of a permanent move to Leeds United.
Rodon’s impressive performances at Elland Road so far this season have led to speculation about whether he would stay beyond his loan deal, and he has now revealed he is loving every minute at Leeds. This comes after Daniel Farke said the club is working on the move behind the scenes; however, he added that the negotiations are not urgent and will most likely pick up near the end of the Welshman’s loan term.
Joe Rodon told the Yorkshire Evening Post [23 January]: “I can only be grateful for the possibilities I’ve been given by the coach, and I believe I am in a good situation. Not just me; I believe we have a well-balanced team here, and I am enjoying every minute of it. Personally, I’m loving every minute. Long may it continue”.
However, the transfer may prove expensive, with Phil Hay of The Athletic suggesting [22 January] that the Premier League club is set to up their asking price following his good performances. Leeds reportedly inquired about a permanent deal in the summer and was offered a valuation of £15 million, but with that price now rising, this agreement might be pricey. If Leeds can sign Rodon permanently when his loan term expires at the end of this season, it would be a fantastic deal for the club, regardless of the amount of money spent on his transfer with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, a famously difficult negotiator.
Because of the part the Welshman has played for Farke this season, both the team and the manager would feel his loss if he doesn’t return when his loan agreement expires, which makes it even more important to make sure he stays through the summer.
The Welsh defender, who is only 26 years old, still has a lot of time to develop and learn. If he can accomplish that as a Leeds United regular, it might be in everyone’s best interests.
