As the January transfer window approaches, here is all the latest Leeds United news.
Cooper’s future
According to reports, Leeds United have yet to decide whether to extend Liam Cooper’s contract. The Scotland centre-back has been a mainstay of the Whites defence since 2014, but has fallen behind Pascal Struijk and Joe Rodon in the pecking order.
Cooper‘s contract expires at the end of the season, and while Rodon is only on loan from Tottenham, the Athetlic report that no decision has been made on Cooper’s future. Daniel Farke has expressed admiration for the 32-year-old, but his future remains uncertain as he enters the final six months of his current contract.
Much will depend on which division Leeds plays in next season, with some fans questioning whether he is ready for another Premier League season.
Ryan Kent
Nottingham Forest may be able to outbid Leeds for Ryan Kent on loan. The former Rangers midfielder is reportedly dissatisfied with his playing time at Fenerbahce and wants to return to the UK.
Leeds were heavily linked with a move for the 27-year-old while he was at Rangers, and with two loan slots available in the current squad, they could be tempted with another loan deal.
Premier League Forest, on the other hand, are said to be leading the race for his signature, with Steve Cooper looking to bolster his squad as they fight to stay in the top flight.
