Leeds United vs. Millwall press conference in real time: Daniel Farke provides a fitness update as a strong squad is anticipated.

This afternoon, as Leeds United prepare to face Millwall at The Den in their return to Championship play, manager Daniel Farke has his pre-game news conference.

Leeds will arrive at Millwall on Sunday morning bright and early, ready for a midday start in the capital. Farke will face Gary Rowett in the match for the sixth time; the German is still looking for his first triumph over the cunning Lions coach.

Farke has former Millwall loanees Charlie Cresswell and Jamie Shackleton on his team, but the latter is more likely to start.

Archie Grey and Crysencio Summerville chose not to join their respective youth international teams over the international break and stayed at Thorp Arch instead. They should be in top shape for the match on Sunday at The Den.

Mateo Joseph has rejoined the team, and after arriving late in the summer transfer window, Ilia Gruev and Jaidon Anthony have been registered.

Farke addresses Poveda’s personal problems

I admire my players for being grown, human beings, and for having a private life. Of course, I always prefer it when people are happy in their personal lives, but everyone has a professional side to them as well. We all experience periods when life is difficult for us personally for various reasons. After that, we must continue working at our jobs. So once more, it’s as if I asked him to act professionally and pay attention to the difficult work.

Since we all love to play and work in football, it won’t matter to us if you focus on your work, especially if you have to focus on it in order to be with your teammates and do what you love. We won’t be greatly impacted.

Yes, I would react if I sensed this in any way on the practise pitch or something similar, but I have not sensed anything at all, and all of my players that are present are available.

Farke on the atmosphere on Sunday

The Den is an incredibly difficult place to visit. For inexperienced players, especially in such a challenging environment, it may also be oppressive. We have discussed this. We can theoretically prepare them, but one of our tasks is to execute it on the pitch when it matters.

Concerns with selection – Farke

Since we had three goalkeepers with us, we were still unable to complete the bench, therefore I much prefer the current scenario to those circumstances where I get a headache trying to fill the bench.

Farke on inspiring his adversaries with confidence

Since it’s less about psychological tricks or things like that, there is only ever one solution: hard labour. It sounds more like, “Come on, work hard, get into really good shape, and focus on the performances.”

Farke on Spence

Djed Spence is a mystery because he has skipped practise sessions in the past for personal reasons, and yesterday during training he injured his lateral [knee] ligament, necessitating further testing. Since it was impossible to train today, I would categorise it as a serious concern for the weekend as well.

Farke  on Firpo

Junior Firpo has been dismissed. He participated in our previous training session, but he wasn’t able to train the past few days due to hip issues. This means he will undoubtedly miss Millwall’s match, which is fairly natural after being sidelined for so long.

injuries boost

Since yesterday, Liam Cooper has resumed full team training. Daniel James and Sam Byram returned for the entire week.

Farke on accidents

Overall, Stuart Dallas is significantly improved on the long term list, but he is also getting better. Patrick Bamford remains unavailable. He will also miss the three games that are scheduled to take place over the next six days, but we have high hopes that he will return to team practise soon, perhaps as early as the end of the week or the week after. As a result, his condition has significantly improved.

Farke at Thorp Arch during the international break

Both necessary and advantageous. Since there was a lot going on and a lot of work to be done in the eight weeks prior, it was crucial to take a few days to recover. This was definitely necessary.
