Leeds United have been connected with a number of Welsh talents this month, with Daniel Farke’s side already having three of Rob Page’s players – and Bournemouth’s Chris Mepham is now a target.
According to TalkSPORT‘s Alex Crook, Daniel Farke‘s statement that the Whites may not be as busy surprised him. He believes he was warned there will be action on GMS.
Not only that, but Leeds are interested in Wales defender Mepham, who has lost his spot in Andoni Iraola‘s Bournemouth squad this season. Scott Parker described the player as “fantastic” despite only making two league starts.
With Euro 2024 approaching, Mepham will be looking to gain some playing time in the second half of the season, wherever that may be. Crooks claims Leeds are admirers of the Bournemouth player this month.
“It’s fascinating because the management has stated that they will not make many changes this window because they are satisfied with their current squad. But others have told me that they are going to be pretty ambitious.
“You mentioned David Brooks, but I believe they also adore Bournemouth’s Chris Mepham. Crook told GMS that after sending Djed Spence back, you’d expect them to have a full-back lined up.
Leeds want to sign Bournemouth and Wales’ star Chris Mepham.
Leeds already has three Wales internationals, so it’s no wonder that they’ve been connected with more. However, with the acquisition of Mepham, there are now five potential Welsh signings in the January window.
David Brooks and Kieffer Moore, Bournemouth colleagues, have been linked. Burnley‘s Connor Roberts and Forest’s Neco Williams are also options, with the latter being a summer target. Is a move for Mepham likely?
How about right now? Probably not. Leeds has Rodon, Pascal Struijk, Liam Cooper, and Charlie Cresswell. Even if Cresswell leaves, as he has been connected with, should we sign Mepham, Rodon‘s Wales partner? Unlikely.
