Leeds won’t allow West Ham to sign a left-back who, at 24, has already contributed 12 assists in 2023–2024

Leeds United’s search for a left-back is expected to accelerate between now and the end of the month, with the Whites yet to sign a new player – but West Ham may be ready to leave us disappointed.

Leif Davis

Junior Firpo has impressed in recent games, while Sam Byram is also fit. However, both players are known for being prone to injury, and Byram‘s contract ends in the summer. He’d want to sign a new one.

Firpo has also been linked to the escape door. Leeds need a left-back, and Ipswich’s Leif Davis will undoubtedly be evaluated by those at Elland Road this month, given his performance at Portman Road.

Leif Davis

The left-footer, of course, spent four years at Elland Road, from 2018 to 2022. But he only made 14 senior appearances for Leeds. He moved to Ipswich 18 months ago and has been shining for the Tractor Boys ever since.

A massive 26 assists and three goals in 70 appearances, assisting Ipswich win promotion last season and then shining in Kieran McKenna’s pursuit of a top-two finish this season. Already has 12 assists in 25 games.

Leif Davis

Leeds have got to rival West Ham in the Leif Davis race.

Now, clearly, Ipswich will never conduct business with Leeds at this time. However, Premier League club West Ham want Davis, according to The Football League Paper (January 21st, page 8).

If West Ham makes a move for Davis between now and the end of the window, Leeds must match any offer. Yes, we confess our error, but Davis is perhaps the league’s top left-back.

Money talks, and while Ipswich will not want to send Davis to Leeds, the Whites must match West Ham‘s bid and put up a fight. Davis is the ideal January addition to the left wing.
