Sandro took to social media to inform Neal Maupay that the darts celebration belongs to Tottenham.
Spurs‘ match against Brentford was highly heated, with tackles flying throughout the 90 minutes and several altercations erupting.
The Tottenham players clearly disliked it when Maupay used James Maddison‘s famous darts celebration after giving the Bees the lead in the first half, with Brennan Johnson ridiculing the Frenchman as Spurs completed the comeback at the start of the second period.
The players’ back and forth continued after the final whistle, with Maddison telling TNT Sports (via BBC Sport) that Maupay was replicating his celebration since the Brentford striker had not scored enough goals to create his own.
The former Brighton player responded on social media, noting out on Instagram that he had more goals and less relegations than the Tottenham midfielder.
Sandro rushes to the defence of James Maddison
Sandro has now responded to the Brentford star by sending a message to the 27-year-old on social media.
The former Tottenham player tagged Maupay on his Instagram Story, writing: “@nealmaupay, this celebration belongs to us. Let’s make this absolutely clear. Glad to see you return, @Madders.”
Spurs Web Opinion
It was amazing to see the Tottenham players’ camaraderie and how they all came together to criticise Maupey for his celebration.
Having said that, I found the entire episode to be cringe-worthy and juvenile. There was no reason for Maddison and company to continue this feud after the game.
