According to reports, Bayern Munich is on the verge of accepting a five-year contract offer, catching Liverpool off guard.
Bayern Munich and Liverpool are both vying to hire Xabi Alonso as their next manager. Thomas Tuchel and Jurgen Klopp will depart their respective positions at the end of the season. Tuchel may be fired early if Bayern fail to go past Lazio in the Champions League Round of 16.
At the moment, the signs point to Liverpool being the ones to reach an agreement for Alonso.
TEAMtalk has gathered that a three-year contract offer is on the table, and initial discussions between the Reds and Alonso’s side have been good.
Furthermore, Sky Germany said that Alonso has a’verbal promise’ with Bayer Leverkusen. The in-house agreement states that Alonso has freedom to leave the club THIS SUMMER if a good offer is received.
According to Sky Germany, in the lack of a release clause, Liverpool must pay between €15 million and €25 million to get Alonso out of Leverkusen.
However, while Liverpool appear to have beaten Bayern to Alonso, columnist Rudy Galetti says Bayern will sink Liverpool in a major transfer objective.
