Liverpool is looking for an England international to replace Fabinho and Henderson.

This would be a surprising decision by Jurgen Klopp…

With midfielders Jordan Henderson and Fabinho poised to join Saudi Arabia, Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool are looking for midfield reinforcements.

Having previously recruited the more attack-minded duo of Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister, the Reds are looking for a man who can play at the base of midfield.

Finding such a player can be difficult, and with the league’s top holding midfielder, Declan Rice, joining Arsenal today, options with proven Premier League experience are limited.

Liverpool to go with Phillips?
Due to a shortage of viable local talent, the Liverpool administration is apparently eyeing an unusual candidate: England international Kalvin Phillips.

Phillips was a member of Manchester City’s title-winning squad last season, but only started once during the season as he battled to regain his form from his previous club Leeds.

Previously one of the league’s most sought-after players, the 27-year-old is looking for a transfer lifeline this summer in order to stay in Gareth Southgate‘s England squad for Euro 2024 next year.

Pep Guardiola is understood to be willing to part ways with Phillips, who was already offered to West Ham this summer as a potential makeweight for Declan Rice.

According to Sky Sports, Phillips is a major contender to succeed Henderson and Fabinho, with Ryan Gravenberch of Bayern Munich and Romeo Lavia of Southampton also being mentioned.
