Liverpool might find the appropriate Jürgen Klopp’s replacement, Mohamed Salah, will need to make a crucial decision.

Despite a rocky start to the year, Liverpool is now seeing some of its important players return to the field. Harvey Elliott’s deployment location will need to be decided by Jürgen Klopp

Some of the growth of younger talents among Liverpool’s core has offered hope for the future in a season that hasn’t offered much in the way of positives. Fábio Carvalho’s purchase in the summer seems to be one that will pay off in the long run, and Harvey Elliott is still excelling while working under Jürgen Klopp’s guidance.

Elliott, who has received increased playing time for England’s U21 team, is in a crucial stage of his career. He has played well in midfield for Liverpool this year, and when moving forward, his judgment is superior than that of others with greater experience around him.

Although he is predominantly an attacking player and there have been times when his defensive positioning might have been better, he is only 19 years old, so it will take him some time to properly develop that aspect of his game.

Additionally, there are additional factors that force Liverpool to decide where he should play in the long run. There is now no obvious replacement for Mohamed Salah in the Merseyside team, and his current deal may be his last.

Elliott’s future may now be best as a potential replacement for one of the Reds’ most recognizable wingers in club history, with Liverpool concentrating on bringing in a big midfield player for the upcoming campaign.

Given that Manchester United paid £86 million for Antony this summer, it is obvious that a replacement for Salah won’t be cheap, and high salaries don’t necessarily lead to success.

Elliott, who can play in any attacking midfield position, would benefit from the 4-2-3-1 formation, despite the fact that Liverpool nearly never starts with it. Should Elliott start regularly scoring goals while playing, that might change. And given how poorly the Reds have performed despite playing in a 4-3-3 formation that has historically proven unbeatable, Klopp may decide to make a change at some point this season.

Positives can be drawn from the team that has been assembled, regardless of whether Liverpool finds a way to return to the league title chase this season or opts to settle for a top-four result. Elliott plays a significant role in that, but other players like Ibrahima Konaté, who has the potential to become one of the top center backs in the world, and Darwin Nez, who turned 23 in June, have given the squad attacking stars of the future.

Clarity regarding Elliott’s position within the team, once the Reds have determined where he fits best, will only aid in his continued development. Elliott may be able to resume playing in a position that will be one of the hardest to fill in the next three years with the return of Liverpool’s midfield alternatives, including Arthur Melo.

The former Fulham youth star will undoubtedly contribute significantly to the Liverpool team for many years to come, according to all existing indications.
