While Liverpool‘s first priority is to find Klopp’s replacement, the fates of Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold are almost equally important.
That trio of club stalwarts each have little over a year left on their contracts, and Klopp‘s eventual replacement would almost surely want to keep them.
Salah‘s compatriot, former Tottenham Hotspur striker Mido, stated on Thursday that the 31-year-old has already agreed to join the Saudi Pro League.
Van Dijk, too, cast doubt on his future last month when he claimed he could follow Klopp out of Anfield, only to backtrack later.
The exorbitant cost of keeping Salah, in particular, may push Liverpool to cash in on Diaz, who is believed to have suitors in Spain.
While Diaz has been a consistent starter since regaining fitness, senior Liverpool officials are said to have high hopes for an emerging crop of young players.
