Ian Harte, a Leeds United veteran, has named Manchester United legend Roy Keane as the best player he has played with.
Harte played eight years with Leeds, making over 200 league games until leaving Elland Road in 2004 when the club was demoted from the Premier League.
He is regarded as a Leeds legend, yet he claims that the best player he ever played with was Keane, the captain of the Whites‘ fiercest and most despised opponents, Manchester United.
Harte was Keane’s international teammate for Ireland and admitted to having a crush on the former Manchester United midfielder.
He stated that his compatriot was the most demanding player he had ever seen, expecting the best effort from his teammates even during training.
When asked who the best player he played with was, Harte remarked on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast,
“I’d definitely answer Roy Keane.
“He was outstanding, even in training. He insisted on it during training.
“Loved him to bits.”
Harte played alongside a number of outstanding Leeds players, including Harry Kewell, Mark Viduka, Anthony Yeboah, and Robbie Fowler.
Keane won seven Premier League titles, four FA Cups, and the Champions League with Manchester United, among other accolades.
