Luke Ayling of Leeds United confirms the Elland Road exit on Tuesday with a five-word message

Luke Ayling, who revealed his departure from Leeds United on Tuesday, January 9, wrote a five-word note to Robin Koch.

After Koch signed a pre-contract agreement with the Bundesliga team, his Elland Road tenure with the team expires in six months, Eintracht Frankfurt confirmed on January 9 that the German defender would be joining them permanently.

Koch was eager to stay with the German team when his loan period ended because he wanted to make an impression before Germany‘s March international matches and this summer’s Euro 2024.
Koch also announced his permanent relocation to Frankfurt on his own Instagram account on January 9th, stating, “Enjoyed every moment so far and excited what the future holds!” We’re still on our way! We are quite busy!

The veteran of Leeds, Ayling, replied with a five-word message, “Congratulations fella,” praising the German on his announcement. Big Man, I miss you.

Koch, whose contract at Elland Road expires at the end of the season, captained the team throughout the first few months of the season while on loan at the Bundesliga team.

The 27-year-old has advanced remarkably for Frankfurt, appearing in 14 Bundesliga games thus far this season and even earning a spot in Nagelsmann‘s squad for Germany.
Koch, Marc Roca, Brenden Aaronson, Diego Llorente, and Rasmus Kristensen were among the few players that left Elland Road following the Whites’ Premier League ban last season.

Given that Koch has shown himself to be a step ahead of Championship football, there was always a risk that a player of his caliber would depart Elland Road following the club’s relegation.

Although it is unfortunate that the 27-year-old will now be departing the team for nothing, when a player is in the final six months of his contract, it is the cost of doing business.

Ayling congratulated Koch right away on his decision, yet with his recent troubles in the first squad and his meager playing time, it’s possible that he’s following the German out of Elland Road.
