One year after using their relegation departure clauses to secure loan moves overseas, Wober is one of two loanees that returned to the team this summer. Along with several others, he and Brenden Aaronson played in the Bundesliga for Borussia Mönchengladbach and Union Berlin respectively during the previous season. They were heavily criticized by the fan base for their lack of fan devotion.

Nevertheless, Aaronson had fruitful discussions with Farke early in the summer over a return and gave a detailed statement to the local media regarding his choice to return and support Leeds in their promotion. The attacker for the US Men’s National Team planned his relocation to Union Berlin prior to Farke taking over, and he stated that as the previous season came to an end, he began to consider an Elland Road reunion.

However, Wober has not yet made any public statements regarding his future plans. Borussia Mönchengladbach expressed interest in signing the Austrian international on a permanent basis, but they were unable to meet Leeds’ asking price, instead Wober teamed up with Farke for the preseason training camp in Germany. However, the manager discloses that they had already communicated.

“We had a good chat on the phone when he was playing for Austria, I allowed him to have two and a half weeks to clear his head,” stated Farke. We talked about how I wanted to be there and show my value.

“When a player joins and maybe had a bad relegation experience in the past, his reputation may not be at the highest level. This could be compared to Georgi Rutter and Illan Meslier, who were a little unsure about the new manager and how things would turn out, but at this point, everyone is pretty much completely sold on them.”

However, Farke acknowledges that in order for the supporters to embrace Wober once more, he must demonstrate his commitment to the team on the field. He stated: “One outstanding performance is insufficient to win back the hearts and confidence of supporters after a challenging season prior and being out on loan, same with Brenden.

However, he has excelled in training, and I support him. It will take them a few weeks to reach 100%, but I think they can have a significant impact. They have a strong desire to succeed. The basement is decent. However, here is when things really get serious; deeds speak louder than words.”
