Manager reveals team ‘are working’ on a deal to sign Tottenham player

Daniel Farke has stated that Leeds United are working behind the scenes to sign Joe Rodon permanently from Tottenham Hotspur.

Rodon has been sensational since his loan move to Elland Road last summer, but with no option to buy the centre-back, Leeds will have to negotiate with Spurs to make the transaction permanent.
On Thursday, Football Insider stated that Leeds had already begun talks with Spurs about signing the Welshman, with the source stating that the Championship club is aware that they may face stiff competition for the defender if they wait until next summer.

The report said that the interest in the former Swansea man’s talents is growing, and that he might fetch up to £20 million at the end of current season.
Farke admits Leeds United are working on the Joe Rodon deal.

Farke has now confessed that effort is being done behind the scenes to make Rodon a Leeds player, with the German coach stating that he is pleased with the 26-year-old’s performances this season.

When asked about the club’s alleged pursuit of the Tottenham player, he stated (via TEAMtalk): “Behind the scenes, we are working.” Without a doubt, we are quite pleased with Joe.

“He is becoming more of a leader in this club, and you can see how much it means to him to wear this white shirt. He is simply thrilled to be her. He is vital. We are more than pleased.

“We would like him to stay for a bit longer, but right now it is not an urgent topic – he will stay for us until the end of the season.”

Managers rarely discuss discussions publicly, but Farke may be doing so knowing that other clubs cannot compete for Rodon right now because he is on loan at Leeds for the remainder of the season.

The 47-year-old appears to be confident that the Wales international will remain at Elland Road beyond this season.
